When Mayo won the All-Ireland Football Final on the 26th of July, 60,000 Mayo fans celebrated in Croke Park, loudly singing ‘The Green and Red of Mayo’ by The Saw Doctors. In the days following Mayo’s All-Ireland win – their first in 75 years – ‘The Green and Red of Mayo’ by The Saw Doctors was heard all over the world, and reached No. 1 on the Irish Spotify charts and No. 1 on iTunes.
The Saw Doctors, who are led by the band’s songwriting duo, Davy Carton and Leo Moran, have recently welcomed back one of their founding members, Pearse Doherty. The eight-man band line-up features Anthony Thistlethwaite, formerly of The Waterboys, and longtime members Rickie O’Neill, Kieran Duddy, Tommy Carton and Noelie McDonnell.
TF Royal Theatre owner, Pat Jennings, has said:

The Saw Doctors have enjoyed a remarkable career spanning decades, with a string of much-loved hits including ‘The Green and Red of Mayo’, ‘I Useta Lover’, ‘N17’, ‘To Win Just Once’, ‘Never Really Been Gone’ and ‘Clare Island’.
Their return to Mayo promises to be a very special night, with fans set to hear the songs that have become part of the soundtrack of Irish life and, perhaps most importantly, the anthem that has once again united Mayo supporters across the country.
